The J. Wayne Reitz Union's various indoor and outdoor facilities, totaling more than 40,000 sq. ft., provide venues for many different types of events such as meetings, lectures, conferences, banquets, and dances. By combining a large number of room options with various layouts, each event at the Reitz Union is specific and unique. Our experienced staff is ready to provide guidance and suggestions to help ensure the success of your event.
As of July 30, 2007 the first floor of the J. Wayne Reitz Union (JWRU) will be undergoing a number of renovations that will significantly improve and expand open student lounge spaces and enhance the overall appearance of one of our main entrance areas. The renovation will also provide additional administrative office space that will allow us to better serve the needs of students, faculty, staff and guests.
Renovations are expected to last the entire Fall Semester and be substantially completed by the end of the calendar year.
These renovations will require the administrative staff usually located in 101 JWRU to temporarily relocate to meeting rooms on the third floor. Rooms 347, 355, 357, 361, 362, and 363 will be used for this purpose and not be reservable for meetings or other purposes during the renovation period.
In addition, the 121, 122, and 123 lounges will be permanently removed and will be replaced by open lounge spaces that will be accessible at all times the Reitz Union is open.
As a result of these changes, meeting room space will be very limited during the Fall 2007 Semester. Room availability may be reviewed here. Room reservation requests may be submitted here. Requests will continue to be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
A list of other campus venues that allow student organizations to reserve meeting space may be found here.
We apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused during these renovations. We are sure that you will find the final results to be attractive, comfortable, and useful.
