This exhibition is one that features the photography of Jessica Arnieri and Melissa Hurcomb in the J. Wayne Reitz Union Gallery on the University of Florida campus. The show is a fusion of images that were created with a common goal of bringing attention to the unnoticed and underappreciated details of daily life. Arnieri captures images of a broad range of objects and people in ways that the viewer would not normally recognize, bringing about a need for further scrutiny of the images for understanding and appreciation. Hurcomb employs collage in order to highlight the geometric details of buildings and other three-dimensional objects, paying attention to depth and detail that weighs heavily on the way that we all experience the spaces that we tend to pass through without consideration. Despite differing techniques, both of the artists work toward drawing attention to what we tend to miss as we navigate our surroundings in life without reflection through abstraction.
